Online Teaching Dates: 3/27
Class Time: 7:00 ─ 8:50 p.m.

The launch of remote instruction last Friday was a tremendous success. When teachers and students met for the first time in the air, it was inflated with great enthusiasm and excitement. Participation and attendance were above and beyond expectation. Massive energy pumped up the virtual classrooms, and seamless teacher-student interaction drove the learning spirit to a high level. Pictures of our first online-teaching session are posted at the end of this newsletter.

Our community is one of our greatest gifts. Last Friday's success would not have been possible without the support of our parents and guardians who assisted our online-teaching effort by providing adequate software and hardware, as wells as appropriate learning spaces to students.

In the midst of a pandemic, Governor Newsom's shelter-in-place order represents a coordinated attempt to contain the spread of the virus. Recognizing that academic gaps can develop as rhythms are upended and learning routines are disrupted, BVCS' administration immediately took stepsto help minimize the impact of school closure and turned this health crisis into an opportunity by diving headlong into online teaching.

Porting what has been done in a classroom into an online environment is challenging. Before the diving, there was a lot to process and long hours were spent to navigate the new software, to reconfigure lessons into an online format, and to create new content to make the teaching materials more intriguing. BVCS is very proud to have a team of teachers and staff who are eager to collaborate and share what they know, trading trips and showing each other how to use new tools.

Remote instruction will not be offered during the Spring Break. While the situation regarding the COVID-19 is fluid and ever changing, it is not certain if our Chinese classes can be resumed at Charlotte Wood Middle School by April 17. We will keep monitoring the evolvement and following the advisory from the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Please stay tune to our email notification. In the meantime, please stay healthy and stay positive. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.
