Important reminders from US Census,

本校是美國人口普查局的合作伙伴,其公關專員徐敏子女士轉來了重要提醒

DO …

· Do refer people to official Questionnaire Assistance Centers whenever possible.

· Do make sure you are familiar with the 2010 Census materials and concepts. For

more information and helpful documents, consult the official 2010census.gov website.

· Do use official Language Assistance Guides available at 2010census.gov for people with limited English proficiency.

· Do answer questions about the census in a private area.

· Do ask the respondent to seal the envelope and mail the form right away via the U.S. Postal Service.

· DO NOT …

· Do not pretend to be an official Questionnaire Assistance Center or use the official census logo if you are offering assistance.

· Do not help people complete forms or volunteer to staff the Questionnaire Assistance

Center if your organization is hosting an official center that is staffed by a sworn census employee.

· Do not gather completed forms for mailing at a later time. Ask respondents to place their completed forms in mail receptacles that are emptied daily by the U.S. Postal Service.

· Do not offer to collect or “bundle” the 2010 Census Forms. It is important to avoid any suggestion of impropriety. Respondents should return their own census form by mail through the U.S. Postal Service.

About Us

The Bay Valley Chinese School is a non-profit organization supported by a group of dedicated and motivated teachers and parent volunteers. BVCS does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, nationality, ethnic origin, or religion. Incorporated in 2001, the school boasts an enrollment of over 200 students for the very first school year!

Our school fund comes from student tuition, and student family/friend donation. The school budget is used on campus rent, custodian/janitor fee, teacher’s compensation, teaching/student material, and school activities. Besides the teachers, all members of the BVCS staff receive no pay.

The 2006-2007 school year is BVCS's fifth year. Chinese classes are offered from the kindergarten through 12th grade levels. Classes are held at Charlotte Wood Middle School (600 El Capitan Drive, Danville CA), Friday evenings from 7:00 - 8:50 PM in two 50-minute periods with a 10-minute recess. The 2006-2007 school year consists of 32 weeks of instruction divided into two semesters.

The objective of BVCS is to provide an excellent environment for students to learn Mandarin Chinese Language and to explore Chinese Culture. Our teachers are all highly experienced and specialized in Chinese language teaching. They are very caring, and know how to inspire students to have an appreciation for Chinese culture. BVCS puts an emphasis on providing students with more individual attention and plenty of time to practice conversation with the teacher. Starting in the 6th grade, students learn pinyin, which will prepare them for college-level Chinese Language courses.

Starting in the fall semester 2003, BVCS has been offering Enrichment Program to BVCS students and teaching assistants. The Enrichment Program is designed to create a fun and exciting place for children to learn about different aspects of their cultural heritage that are only touched upon in textbooks. Classes are on Fridays from 6:00 - 6:50 PM, 20 students per class.

Parents’ involvement is a key to the success of our school program and to the success of our students and their learning. Our school welcomes your involvement to make it a better place for your children and our community.
